Savlon first aid wash
Just wondering if this is ok to use to clean wounds? It's main ingredient is Cetrimide and also contains sodium citrate, disodium edentate and citric acid. Or would it be best to just stick to salt water?
Saffy was attacked this morning by a muzzled but off lead greyhound and has a gash a couple of cm from the corner of her eye. Not sure if it was caused by being bashed with the muzzle or if a tooth got through but it's not pretty
Also wondering if it's ok to use antiseptic so close to her eye?

As Ella said, mild salt water would be better. You don't want to get Savlon near the eye. Bathing once or twice per day should be enough to keep infection at bay.
Poor thing! Hope she gets better soon!

Poor saffy, hope it heals up soon xx
Keep cleaning it with the salt water and if it starts to look like it may be infected or not healing well then pop her to the vets as she might need some antibiotics.

Re: Savlon first aid wash
I'd bathe it twice a day unless it starts to weep, and then I'd do it more often.
If the wound closes & swells, then go to the vets as you may need anti be to clear up an infection.

Thanks all, I've been bathing it with salt water and it's healing nicely so far.
Happily she doesn't seem too traumatised either, we took her back to where it happened for her walk today and she was fine, running around like a loony and happy to meet any other dogs we came across
