How do you wash your dog?
How do you wash your dog?
Buster used to go in the wet room. We moved house recently and haven't got a wet room now. In the new house the shower doors look a bit flimsy for Buster's escape attempts and it would take 2 full grown men to lift him into the bath (and another 2 to hold him there against his will. I'm wondering about washing him as he's starting to smell like an old sock. I was just wondering how everyone else washes their dog.

Re: How do you wash your dog?
Bath. Blue sits there and will stay there and let me drain all the water and dry him. He only gets out when I say ok. Which is great. Last dog I had was a boxer and she used to dive out and shake and soak you. We used to finish washing her then leg it into the bedroom and slam the door behind us before she got us

Re: How do you wash your dog?
Molly won't actually stay in the bath, the main wash she gets is when she goes swimming in the river!
Seriously though, she hates the bathroom, so she gets tied up outside and when it was warmer she had a warm 'shower' (Watering can, we don't have a hose pipe) with baby shampoo. Now it's colder she gets tied up and we use dry shampoo on her, I have noticed that it's not really dry though, it's a foam, so is kinda wet, she hates either way, but after digging up rabbit holes, she needs a bit of a clean up!

On the odd occasion its a planned wash, they get washed in the bath but usually its the hose in backyard because they've been rolling in the smelly stuff whilst out.

I stick him in the bath, but I use jugs of water to wet him & rinse him. If I use the shower head he tries to eat it!

Re: How do you wash your dog?
You can get this dog spray from pets at home, you spray it on, rub it in and let it dry, then brush it out of them with a stiff brush. Makes their coat really shiny, and smells pretty good too. If chase gets muddy i stick him in the shower, but the spray stuff keeps him smellin fresh in between showers.

We dont..... (lol unless he has been rolling in something disgusting that is!) He goes to the beach, he runs in the rain, we figure somewhere in the middle he gets clean.

Re: How do you wash your dog?
Both shower with me and I use the tar shampoo on them. It was not a problem as from young they always wanted to be in everything. Benny even lifts his head up for me to get under his neck and closes his eyes. I always make sure the water is not as hot as I would put it for me as the skin is tender. He loves the shampoo massage and looks totally relaxed. After he loves to be dried first with the towel then the hair dryer. From a young age I showed him that I was using it on me and it was ok. Now he rolls over when it's time to dry the other side. I hold it far from them so they get the very end of the air and not burned. They love it and get a treat at the end. Then I put on some instrumental music and they sleep, content and clean

Re: How do you wash your dog?
In the shower after rolling in goose or fox poo.
I wrap him in a towel before getting him out as he's one of those dogs that shakes off for ages after.

Re: How do you wash your dog?
I never bath my dogs, first I use a slicker on them, this takes out the dead hair, then I use a brush then put a baby wipe over their coats. Depending on the time of year how often I do this with them. If they roll in something I just wash were it is dirty.

Re: How do you wash your dog?
Spring is here and the weather is wonderful and warm here now so Tyson is having a bath tomorrow after Fly Ball. He loves the bath so will simply jump in when required.

Re: How do you wash your dog?
It is quick and easy to do if you keep up with it, once a week when they are not moulting, daily when they are. It takes me about 10 minutes to do 5 dogs, and I don't get a bath with the dog.
