Dogs running up to mine - two responses - lol
Out earlier than normal today with my dog and my foster dog.
Anyways, a young staffy runs over to my two, who are busy playing wrestle-the-stick with each other.
So, I pop my foster on his lead (my own dog's big enough to look after herself but is also very well-natured and doesn't start fights so I wasn't too bothered about getting a lead on her).
The young staffy mounts my foster's head (he's a staffy, too) and starts going for gold. I'm waiting for his Jacob's to disappear in one swift bite to the groin but, no, foster keeps it together and no harm done.
A woman comes over to get the young staffy and then gives him a right ****ing wallop, to which I say, shocked, because it was a fair old whack from a fair-sized woman, lol: "Don't hit your dog."
I get the response: "I've only had him a week, he needs to learn."
To which I say: "Well teach him then, don't hit him."
She then says: "He's my dog, not yours so f**k off."
Charmed, I'm sure.
Anyway, at least the fella this woman was with didn't get involved - I was internally raging by then.
Fast forward an hour and a young labrador puppy (four months old with huge feet, lol), comes running over to my two.
Again, foster goes on a lead and, again, he's as good as gold.
Now, contrast this reaction with the one from earlier: "Oh, I'm so sorry. I really should have known he'd run over. He's going to puppy classes, you see, and just wants to kiss every dog. I'm sorry to have inconvenienced you." (I'm impressed at this point).
She then says, to the dog: "We'll need some more training, won't we young man. Let's go over here, away from all the other doggies, and do just that."
Difference, or what.

Yes, quite different responses. Rocky had a lovely play this afternoon with a black lab puppy of 4 months old too.
I would say report her for animal cruelty but I wouldn't know who to report her too as the RSPCA are useless.

I love lab puppies - all ears and feet, lol.
He was a right sweet little chap, that's for sure.
Was quite surprised that both foster and Wingo ignored him, though, like he didn't exist - I expected Wingo to start play bowing all over the park at him, like she normally would.

Great second response and you hopefully ended the outing on a high. Your foster sounds like a proper star!

Aye, impressed me, Ella.
She was apologising as she was running over.
Quite strange to get two off-lead encounters in a day - haven't had many for a while - as people normally see a staff and an English Bull cross chewing sticks like they're going out of fashion, and go out of their way to go in a different direction.
I suppose me looking like a bearded tramp doesn't help, either.

He's a brilliant dog - another of my fosters where I completely fail to understand how he's ended up in rescue.RoxysMum wrote:Great second response and you hopefully ended the outing on a high. Your foster sounds like a proper star!
If he's not rehomed shortly, he's staying here for good.

What a shame, if only all owners were like the second lady!
