Lifting by Jaws
Hi all ,
I was wondering if lifting a staff off the ground as it bites onto something can damage them , i have seen people do this on lots of occasions , do the dogs enjoy this ? Surely they would let go if it was causing them discomfort , or would they ?

Re: Lifting by Jaws
I personally wouldn't do it in case of causing any harm to the dog. As you know Staffies have a high pain threshold so wouldn't necessarily let you know they were suffering any discomfort.
Some people do let their dogs swing around in the air when playing if they have hold of something, this isn't a very good image to show the dog in though, some members of the general public already have a low enough view of our beloved breed without addeing fuel to the debate.

Re: Lifting by Jaws
I have to say that I've done it many times, but not in public and not for any length of time. Yes, they do enjoy it, no, in short bursts it doesn't do any harm as long as the dog is mature.
As Kathy says, though, doing it in public gives an already maligned dog even more bad publicity.

I do it a little bit as Daisy LOVES tug! But as above, only briefly and not in public!

Same here Vinnie loves it, but only for a few seconds and not in public.
Never did it until Vin was matured either.
