very loud whining/howling
On Mika's first few nights with us she whined the whole night through, regardless of how many times we let her out her cage so it was obviously due to the fact she was missing her mum. A couple of nights she's slept most of the way through with hardly any noise but last night was ridiculous, the loudest whining I've ever heard, I got up and fed her, let her out and even slept on the couch with her before putting her outside again and then back to her cage. She kept quiet for a couple hours and started again.
She sleeps in a cage purely because she's so young and pees/poos the house so if she wasn't in a cage we'd end up with mountains of mess
Just wondering if anyone has any advice

You have to ignore it, and that sounds so harsh but if you pander to her she will associate the attention she gets with howling. I know its tough but I promise after a few nights it will stop Xx

Yep. Ignore it.
What I do with a really young pup is ignore all the whining/howling etc and just get up at about 3 or 4am to see if they need to go for a pee/poo.
They very quickly learn that they only get attention when they're quiet.
You could try leaving a radio on low (a talk station rather than music) or a ticking clock so she doesn't feel she's totally alone.

Ok thanks!
My girlfriend worries more about the next door neighbours hearing it! Lol. I've never heard anything like it before but will try to ignore it or try a radio thanks:)

Can only say the same, ignore it, should stop soon when he realises that it doesn't have the desired effect! Good luck

Echo all the advice above. It's the hardest thing to do but it's for her own sake! I got up with Bruno two or three times a night for the first two weeks. Just got him up, let him out to wee and put him straight back to bed with no fuss. He soon learnt!

Re: very loud whining/howling
Try radio, low warm lighting near where her cage is, covering the cage with a blanket to give it a cosy feel, heated puppy pad, and lots of will power to ignore her when she whines!!
It is awful, I know. I ended up putting the big fan on in our room to drown out the sound! It only lasted around 4 days, but I'm sure that is because we ignored her from the start. Now, she sleeps very well and only stirs when we do. As for toilet training, we had to take her out every hour, if not more. Always after food, sleep, play and just intermittently really, but she got the gist very quickly. In my opinion, they are one of the easiest breed to train, in all aspects really. Good luck. Re: very loud whining/howling
Thanks everyone! last night she slept the whole night or didn't whine loud enough to wake us! she only woke when she heard me getting up for work at 6 this morning. So maybe she's learning or maybe it's luck lol. If she's unsettled tonight I'll try your suggestions:)

They do learn, but some take a little longer than others!Rossco91 wrote:Thanks everyone! :)last night she slept the whole night or didn't whine loud enough to wake us! :)she only woke when she heard me getting up for work at 6 this morning.
