Quite distressing, I am very pleased I have a dog that I can leave for x amount of hours and she is happy and sleeps!

Yes I'm quite lucky too, with the help of you guys I took all the advice re being left alone and she's happy as Larry, thankfully although the 1st few times I left her I left a recording device on to record sound to check she wasn't distressed

Yes we watched it. Not nice to watch the poor pups getting so distressed.
Bruno is 15 weeks now and we're gradually leaving him for periods. Longest he's been now is three hours and he seems to cope well. He won't be left alone for much longer than that because I'm lucky to work from home.

Re: "Dogs" .. ch4 tv
the bit that struck me was that its wasn't that long ago that you could take your dog anywhere with you.

Re: "Dogs" .. ch4 tv
Have now seen the prog on the 4OD. Interesting, but a huge opportunity missed to not make a difference with this valid issue. I mean, what wisdom does the programme offer? Precious little, apart from: give your dog a kong and a new mat before going out and dont tell it to go and commune with the teddies. John Bradshaw was interviewed (of 'In Defence of Dogs' fame). He has some advice in his book about what to do about separation anxiety, but the programme didnt bother to divulge it. So top marks for highlighting the problem, but bottom of the class for anything of practical value. That is my verdict.
