Congestive Heart Failure (CHF)
My sisters Cocker Spaniel Bobby has has been passing out lately and he's now been diagnosed with this, she's very upset and I just wondered if anyone knows anything about it or had experience with it?
Bobby is 9 years old and they knew he has a heart murmur, apparently this is now rated 5 out of 6 in seriousness. The CHF means he has a faulty leaking heart valve that cannot be operated on, it is leaking blood into his lungs, causing a cough. Eventually it will leak into his spleen etc until he can't cope. They have put him on medication which costs £100 a month but I'm not exactly sure what that does.
Its so sad

Re: Congestive Heart Failure (CHF)
So very sorry to read that Saz, it's not something I have ever heard of but just found this on a Google search:
"Treatment: It is important to correct any underlying cause whenever possible. Heartworms, bacterial endocarditis, and some forms of congenital heart disease are potentially curable if they are treated before the heart is damaged.
Treatment of congestive heart failure involves feeding the dog a low-salt diet, restricting exercise, and giving appropriate medications to increase heart function and prevent cardiac arrhythmias".
