Hi everyone ive just been over the local park taking sasha for a walk. I let her off the lead as usual no other dogs in the park and its fully secure so she cant get out. I was teaching her fetch as usual and she just stopped by some dog poo on the floor ithought she was going to smell it as usual so I called her to come back and she turned back and rolled in it. She has never done this before and she was covered ive used baby wipes but she smells something terrible and will need a bath. Is this normal behaviour and if so why did she do it ????

Some dogs just love to roll in something that smells strong it's quite normal really.

Echo Kathy's advice above, they just enjoy it to get the scent on them, nothing major, a strong leave or no should do the trick if you see it about to happen again Smile

I will keep an eye on it in future I didn't even realise what she was doing at first and she did leave it when I told her to stop I just thought it was a bit bizarre. Thanks as always for the advice

Yep, normal behaviour, even though Zeus does not do it, count your lucky stars that Sasha doesn't eat her poo! It took me about 3/4 months to get this out of Zeus, as soon as he poo'd, he'd go to munch it!

The only thing thats similar in our situations are that you need to tell Sasha off as soon as she does it, just like I did with Zeus. It worked, but be patient!

Vinnie does it too, but I do try and watch him as much as I can, as its usually foxes and that does stink!!
Tomato sauce apparently takes the smell away.Big Grin

I did I use stop and leave as commands for sasha as she doesn't respond to no and she did leave it but needed a couple of very stern leave as she is being a bit bit stubborn at the moment too Smile

Fox poop is Charlie's favourite! It's disgusting but very normal and loads of dogs do it sick
