Allergy advice please
Rocky came out in lumps last night. Not had it before, but I recognise it as an allergy reaction. No anthistamines in the house. It subsided after about 3 hours, but today it has come up again so I've given him an antihistamine and hopefully it will help. We haven't got a clue yet what he has had a reaction to.
My concern is, if it were to get worse, is there any chance it could start to affect his breathing? What with it being Sunday and vets not readily available.

Re: Allergy advice please
sorry I'm not so much help as never really had any issues ( I tend to learn by my own experiences and what I read on here ) though I don't recall anything like that unless we were talking about a sting or something in the mouth . Have you any idea as to the cause , changes in washing powder , carpets been cleaned , new food etc etc

Re: Allergy advice please
As for a possible cause, none of the above. I assumed it was something he had come into contact with / eaten during his walk last night. But then it came up again today before he had been out, so we are a bit stumped. Unless it is normal for an allergy to do that? We don't even have any allergies in the family, so I am clueless about the whole subject

Re: Allergy advice please
Darcy has has this usually from running in long grass/wooded areas, piriton for a few days clears it up a treat, I've also used anthisan to rub on which is an antihistamine cream. hope he's ok and it's not bothering him too much

Vinnie gets it also from some grasses and stingers, as above piriton usually clears it up fine.

Re: Allergy advice please
If it hasn't affected his breathing yet, then it very likely won't. One of the most common summer allergies is cut grass, or at this time of year some of the late weed pollen.

Thanks everyone. He's better again now, just waiting to see if it flares up again after our walk this evening. Would be handy to have some idea what's causing it
