Wasp sting
Hi, I have just come back from a walk and I think Lily was stung by a wasp. She suddenly made a dive for her side and I saw it on her, brushed it off and killed it. She is all shaky and doesn't know what to do with herself and I'm not sure what to do. Not even sure if it was a wasp, there are a lot around at the moment but also know that honey bees are quite small and wasp like. Bees leave a sting, wasps don't. Has anyone had any experience of this and can advise me on what to do. Really grateful, thanks.

Re: Wasp sting
Aww poor baby girl darcy was stung by a wasp not so long ago and was exactly the same, poor girl didn't understand hat was going on. It swelled up too, I gave her a piriton (antihistamine) tablet for a couple of days one in the morning on at night and it sorted it out great

Thanks Hayley, will she be OK with a whole one - she's not very big? Not even sure where she was stung - the wasp was on her side but can't find anything. She is sitting right next to me really close and she's very quiet. Just feel so sorry for her.

Re: Wasp sting
Aww poor Lilly, you can give her 1/2 now & 1/2 this evening if you prefer, but darcy is 1 and if her allergies flare up she has one am and one pm, darcy was looking at me as if to say what have you done to me mum that hurt, because I was the one who brused it off I got the blame.

Re: Wasp sting
Both mine have been stung this year, marley got a bee sting near his eye which swelled up alot so took him to the vets which gave him steriods and piriton. then he got stung on his snout by a wasp, just gave him piriton no vet trip. and then laska got stung trying to sniff a wasp...again just piriton did the trick.
takes a couple of hours for all the swelling to go down but it works a treat.

Re: Wasp sting
Hayley, OH told me not to be so daft so we gave her a whole one - the dosage for a child so am sure she will be ok. She has stopped shaking now and is on the sofa nodding off. I have to go out but made other half promise he would sit with her - how daft am I. Can't remember being this neurotic with the kids I'm sure Darcy didn't blame you for too long - they are so forgiving.
Nathan, how awful - poor doggies, glad to know that this will do the trick.

Re: Wasp sting
Hi Buster got stung by 2 wasps on the same walk last week ,I brushed them off he had two lumps where they had stung him. We gave him half of a antihistamine tablet and put some hydrocortisone cream on and he was fine. I would`nt worry they are tough little things.
