The Staffy whine
Ive had Amber for 6 years now and she still whines quite a lot during the day and night.
I know whining isnt a natural way of communicating for dogs and shes learnt it probably from me being a bit of a soft Mum and fussing her when she does it.
I was hoping she would outgrow this behaviour but she is in facr getting worse and its really quite annoying.
She only does it with me-noone else.
I have tried ignoring her, distracting her, telling her off, putting her outside on her own and STILL she does it.
I know staffs are vocal dogs but this is driving me to distraction.
Anyone else got this problem and how do you deal with it if you have.

Re: The Staffy whine
Rocky will only do this if he really wants attention or needs to go outside if the door is closed. I try to ignore it if he carries on and its not for a particular reason. Although telling them off I don't think would stop it from happening.
Is she perhaps doing it from boredom or could it just be the routine that she knows she will get fuss?
Sorry I can't be of much help, im sure someone will be along shortly with better advice x

My old dog used to do this,he was communicating.Let me out of this door.I want to go upstairs.I want to sit on your lap I want to be picked up and put on the table to look out the window. He learns that when making this noise he gets you todo things for him.It shows he is clever.

No experience with this only that Vin does it when I am not taking any notice of him.

Re: The Staffy whine
It is definitely attention seeking because all her needs will have been met but she just wants a fuss or some scratching of the back or neck. I just wondered if anyone had any ideas how to snap her out of it. Short of me walking out of the room-even then she follows me to continue grizzling.
