Something hurt but only after sleep??
Yesterday morning Chiquito was playing with his boomer ball, sort of 'pounced' at it to get it as it rolled and when he landed he yelped loudly. He kept yelping for a couple of seconds then just seemed to sort of 'walk it off'. I checked his legs, moved everything, touched everything etc - couldn't find any sore spots and he seemed to be fine.
Then yesterday afternoon he seemed to be a bit stiff after his walk, and when he got up from his sleep was sort of 'stiff' for the first little bit. He got up this morning and seemed slow to want to move and looked like he was limping in the front end but was fine after a short time and trotted downstairs for a pee before grabbing his ball and taking it onto the grass. He has now just got up from another sleep and this time he just stood there whimpering for a bit before walking, which he did quite stiffly/limpy-ish for a little bit but then was fine again.
I can't seem to find anything that hurts, and there is no particular leg he seems to be holding up or anything. It seems to be the front end that is sore as he gets up, but then he really does seem absolutely normal once he gets moving
I will take him to the vet later this afternoon when they can see us, but I am wondering if it is even possible that he could hurt something playing ball and then have it only bother him when he gets up??

Thanks Hayley and Lisa x
Just got back from the vet - they were very thorough with checking his neck, spine and legs but couldn't find a 'sore spot'. They think that he has damaged the muscle on the inside of his shoulder blade and that is why there is no pain on manipulation.
Confined activity and anti-inflammatory meds for a few days then another check in on Monday.

The worst sort of injury in my eyes. Good luck with the restricted rest and I hope it heals quickly

I still can't believe he hurt himself just playing It was just such a benign, normal movement, I quite truthfully wouldn't even have thought anything of it except that he yelped - and even then I still didn't think it seemed all that bad (.... feeling like rather a bad mummy at this point).

Poor little pup . These things happen to the best of us - just one little twist might twang a muscle - doesn't make you a bad mummy!
The anti-flams, plus the rest (good luck with that!) should do the trick.
s to both of you
