Grrr... Empty Grrr...

Post by Rosie3 Fri Aug 23 2013, 11:25

I'm so frustrated with some stuff being said on Facebook. Basically someone has made a post on a pet page saying staffies should not be bred anymore and anyone that breeds or buys them is irresponsible.
Ignorance! Blimmin' annoys me!
She seems to think that everyone that owns a staffie owns it as a status dog and we are all irresponsible and breed them without care or proper practices.
Nothing I say is getting through to her so I'm just going to ignore it now... But ugh!! I hate some people's attitudes.
If there are too many puppies being bred, it is not just staffies. There are plenty of other breeds that are being bred irresponsibly and for the wrong reasons and there's no focus on them.

It is horrible what people say and think, so ignorant, but we can only do so much to show what an amazing breed we own!

Yep definitely. I've said my piece and I'm going to leave it now.
What annoys me most is that they're making judgements on me and my personality because of the dog I've chosen to own.
I would never do anything to harm my dog and would especially never give it up to rescue without every other possible avenue being explored first. I knew I'd face prejudice when we bought our Bruno but the level of some people's ignorance astounds me.

Oh well... They'll never get to enjoy our wonderful dogs like we do. Smile

I fully agree. They think they can say what they want as they like which is why I do not do face book or twitter. I got enough to deal with and decided I avoid the bull all together. In South Africa we have the same problem. They have not banned pitbull teriers in SA yet and I hope they don't. But the general public believe Bull Teriers and Staffies and Pitbulls are aggresive and monsters.

Our breeds like other ones are super dogs if trained and socialized properly. And some of us get pups because we got rescue dogs that don't take to full grown dogs. Everyone has a free will and choices like that are private and no one has a right to say my choice is wrong.

We planning on having Tip spayed when she is old enough as I'm not a breeder nor do I plan on becoming one. And Rosie like Caryl said before we ignore those who are pea brained and keep on loving our dogs. Those idiots won't ever know how it feels to be loved by our special dogs.

Unfortunately there are a lot of irresponsible breeders and owners out there which is where this perception that the un-educated (on this matter) general public has come from. All we can do is be the best owners we can be, totally responsible at all times, to help promote the breed for what it is, loving, loyal, affectionate, THE BEST Big Grin

Ignorant people are everywhere. We never got a Staffy in the past for these very reasons even tho I know they are great dogs we just did`nt want to be judged because of our dog. Now I don`t care let them judge . Buster has been snapped at twice on his walk this morning and despite being big enough to do some serious damage he just walks off and its the other owners who feel the need to explain their badly behaved dogs actions. 1 was a Beagle and the other a Cairn. No matter what tho there`s just no getting away from the fact that people think if its in the papers /media it must be true they seem incapable of applying logic and common sense.

I agree also, however, due to backyard breeders who are in it purely for cash, there are sooooo many Staffies stuck in the pounds/rescues...there should be regulations for breeding :-(
