Not eating loosing weight help!
First time on here, but I'm at a complete loss so thought I'd try it out! Staffy called Dayna, aged 2, she's always been a fussy eater since she was a puppy, slightly spoiled by her nanny who cooked her fresh chicken and rice every time! But now she has a dry food called burns I think - expensive at £50 a bag! But she just doesn't eat it. Tried lots of things (mixing wet food, chicken on top, tomato sauce, cheese in it, gravey) everything I can think just to get her interested. well that used to work but now she jut the treats off the top and leaves the rest! It is to the point where she will not eat for like 3 days and then I end up feeding her human food because I'm so worried. She's starting to loose weight to so now it's a big worry! Any ideas would be appreciated! Thanks x

Ok no human food, a dog won't let itself starve. Leave food down for 20mns if not eaten take it up. Maybe try a different feed, mine did well on fish. I do add raw egg/sardines on occasions.

I can only echo Janey's advice above, try the tinned sardines over the top of the food and give it a little mix

When darcy is being a little fussy I add a raw egg or tinned sardines in tomato sauce to her kibble, this always seems to help

When did she last visit the vet, there may be a underlying condition as to why she is not eating ?

Re: Not eating loosing weight help!
It sounds like she's gotten too used to treats and human food, both of which often have very strong flavours, and so are appealing to dogs. My advice is to cut out the treats and human food completely to get her back on track. Once she's eating properly again, treats can be gradually added back into her diet - but not with her meals.
I know it's difficult to watch a dog going without food, but they're very instinctual animals. She should eat again when she gets hungry. Do keep an eye on her though - if she loses too much weight or continues to refuse her meals, pop her down to the vets for a check-up on the off chance that there's un underlying cause.
