Re: Butter
a small bit wont hurt I guess, most dogs are lactose intolerant though so may get the runs if you feed to much.
any reason in particular that you want to feed butter?

Re: Butter
Besides the lactose, it is full of fat and salt ... this makes it bad for you and the dog. While I agree that a little will not do terrible damage, I would definitely not be using it routinely.
Is there something in particular you were wanting to use it for?

Re: Butter
Butter isn't really the best option for feeding to your dog, try a tiny piece of grated cheese instead, this usually works for Rocky.

Re: Butter
grated cheese or a raw egg do the trick for Lola. not too often, couple of times a week tops.
as said, try mixing tinned fish with the food, or if its only dry you feed, a bit of warm water to soften it up

Re: Butter
The fat, salt and lactose content of butter is far too high for dogs. As has already been mentioned, egg is a good alternative and is very good for them. Cheese is a nice treat as well, but again, it has lactose and a high fat content, so it should be used in moderation.

Re: Butter
a few things i do to get them eating if they go off the food or just as a treat,
1/ Sardines (always works with mine)
2/ raw minced beef mixed in with kibble, not alot but it makes it more intresting.
3/ feed after a walk (about 30 mins after)
4/ give a bone an hour before feeding and then take away and feed, the chewing and knawing stimulates the desire to eat.
And don’t ever free feed, keep to a schedule and remove the bowl after 15 mins.
