Like butter wouldnt melt
Reading all the stories on here about misbehaving etc, but when you look at the pic of the pooches, they look like butter wouldnt melt in their mouth..quite comical really..as if they could do any of what we say they are doing..x

Re: Like butter wouldnt melt
She is doing ok - she was spayed yesterday, so she has a cone on her head at the mo, she has bad skin so we need to not have her biting herself. She felt very sorry for herself last night, but was back to her usual self this morning - the joys.
We are still trying to implement what the trainer taught us last week in the one to one training...we will get there.
I have bought her a Dogmatic head collar, collar and lead, but they only came yesterday so havent been able to try the head collar yet with her having the cone on. WE are hoping it doesnt rain, if she looks up, that thing is going to fill very quickly...
Thank you for asking. Hope all is good with you xx

Re: Like butter wouldnt melt
Glad to hear things are better How has the biting been?
Aww bless her, I can imagine how she was last night, if she is anything like Alfie was when he was nuetered Is she banging into everything with her cone?
But you are right, you will get there sounds like youve made excellent progress already so things can only continue to improve

Re: Like butter wouldnt melt
her biting hasnt been too bad, but ask my husband and he will say the opposite. I always stick up for her 'she's not that bad', 'she doesnt mean it', she's only playing' etc...but she does tend to do it more with him, she definately sees us both differently..im her mum who cuddles her and feeds her, whereas her dad is someone to 'play' with.
We are getting there, long way to go. I have actually left her out of her crate today for the first time while im at work. sadly she is in it for 8 hours, no one to look in on her...we found her as stray so i tell myself she is still better off with us than wondering the streets or getting in to the wrong hands. I figured she isnt going to do much damage with the cone on, and got to start to try and trust her at some point. She always had bones and rawhide etc to chew but her skin has put a stop to that, so she just gets her kong with her normal food in from now on...
In fact, can anyone recommend a good chew toy, one she cant eat?
Is Alfie good? well behaved? In fact do only people who have a problem with their pooch come on here? i imagine if someone comes on saying their dog is perfect we would be well jel!!

Re: Like butter wouldnt melt
I would definitely recommend a stag bar, it has been an absolute god send to me! It keeps Alfie entertained for hours! You can pick them up in local pet stores or on Ebay.
Alfie used to be a NIGHTMARE He has chewed my kitchen floor, chewed walls, skirting boards, toileting in the house, ripping up carpets, eating/chewing anything he could find. But since I introduced the crate, his behaviour has been so much better! Toilet training was definitely a struggle but I think I am 99% there now. He also has a problem with biting me so I am in the process of trying to get him out of that habit, it seems to be working.
Just goes to show, that with a bit of patience and determination, anything is possible So keep up the good work
Oh and I hope she hasnt done any damage when you get home!

We are almost at the same point with the pooches then, although i know they are all different. Lou is 1 next month.
I shall check out the stag bars then...
She is costing us a fortune - its a good job we love her. I'm hoping the vets bills are going to slow down now. Becuase we got her at 6 months the insurance wont pay out for all the skin stuff cos they say its pre existing...grrr to insurance companies.
I shall let you know how she got on today...she may have ust slept most of the day because of the aneasthetic yesterday. x

I know how you feel with her costing you a fortune! When I first had Alfie it felr like we lived at the vets, we were there that often! But I'm sure they will slow down.
Yeah hopefully she is, good luck x

Logan (like his owner) has only really got a grumpy face, but he is actually quite a well behaved boy since he's got older.
Bad wee nipper at the start though

Yes he has got a grumpy face, but still doesnt look naughty to me...
I dot find myself wishing time away sometimes, thinking Louby will get better as she gets older..We had a dog who died last May at 16 years old, and towards his last years we found ourselves wanting a dog that we could walk for hours (although we wouldnt have changed him for the world, and as very well behaved)...now we have Louby who could walk us for hours!!!

Well I got home and everything was fine. No mess no toilet, nothing. Although she is doing my head in now, trying to itch herself...
