prey drive
Something that fascinates me about dogs and there varying levels of prey drive breed to breed.
Both mine being a terrier husy cross have quite a high drive but what I did find surprising was that a couple who have an amazing lil chiwowa who is totaly big dog friendly lost there boy in the woods yesterday for 20 mins when he went running after deer...yes thats a lil chiwowa.... just proves that call to the wild knows no bounds and the wolf instinct runs through all breeds. Half of me would have loved to have seen it but other half feels there pain and the heart thumping as you try track your dog down that is 100% deaf to you.

Re: prey drive
i was playing fetch with Lola the other day, she stopped and waited - i kid you not - less than a meter from a pigeon with a knackered wing (cat or fox i guess) and even when i went over to see if the pigeon was alive etc, Lola never made a move towards it.
the closest she ever got to a chase was to amble towarda a tree she'd seen a squirrel run up. to be honest i think she lacks the majority of needed brain cells

Re: prey drive
Yer Chance has a massive prey drive and to him anything 'small' and furry is fair game!

Re: prey drive
There is a mini poodle next door that chased off a bear once while camping. I was actually there and was rooting for the bear.
