New Collar
hello everyone
Boss has out grown his medium ezydog collar, i got him it a few months back its fully extended (18 inch) and is to tight to clip together. iv been looking at a few as im not getting another ezydog as i find them too bulky looking, does anyone recommend leather ones or know any reasons not to other than rubbing? it wont be a 24 hour collar just when hes out incase he was to ever go missing ( i hope never happens) so just a safety thing incase it was to happen really. iv been looking at staffy/pitbull ones on ebay and they are all huge spiked collars which are for show and most people are scared enough without this mad looking collar haha. has anyone got any suggestions or recommendations?
Thanks in advance

Re: New Collar
Rocky wears an ezydog harness when we are out on walks, no collar anymore, I just have his tag attached to his harness! Definitely best to have a look at a pets store and see the range!

Re: New Collar
Not a fan of leather personally.
Chiquito has a ezydog collar which he is just about to grow out of .. I have decided to go with a different collar this time and have ordered something very similar to this (though not as wide!)

Re: New Collar
We have one of these for Rocky or rather he used to wear it before we got the EzyDog one. It's just a plain soft black leather about an inch wide:

Re: New Collar
I always used to use the fleece collar on Vinnie, with his fleece harness. Not man enough with a lead but if its for comfort they are great. Now always have ezydog.

Re: New Collar
see i seen all the ezydog recommendations on this so a while back a bought him an ezydog collar and harness and the collar looked to bulky and the harness looks like it rubs his 'armpit' area so im not a huge fan of ezydog.. i still use his harness though as it does the job. i may just buy a new harness and clip his tags onto it just so he wont need a collar. just i like the look of a collar more but like the controll of a harness haha! Boss doesnt care what he wears aslong as he gets a walk!

Re: New Collar
I may be wrong, it has been known but is it not a legal requirement for a dog to wear a collar when outside on walks etc ??

Re: New Collar
Under the Control of Dogs Order 1992, all dogs must wear a collar and identity tag in a public place. The tag must show the owner’s name and address. Dog wardens can enforce this law and fines of up to £5000 can be given by the Courts for an offence.
Section 2 of the Control of Dogs Order states:
Wearing of collars by dogs
2.—(1) Subject to paragraph (2) below, every dog while in a highway or in a place of public resort shall wear a collar with the name and address of the owner inscribed on the collar or on a plate or badge attached to it.
(2) Paragraph (1) above shall not apply to—
(a) any pack of hounds,
(b) any dog while being used for sporting purposes,
(c) any dog while being used for the capture or destruction of vermin,
(d) any dog while being used for the driving or tending of cattle or sheep,
(e) any dog while being used on official duties by a member of Her Majesty's Armed Forces or Her Majesty's Customs and Excise or the police force for any area,
(f) any dog while being used in emergency rescue work, or
(g) any dog registered with the Guide Dogs for the Blind Association.

Re: New Collar
im terrible for discs on collars as memphis has about 4/5 collars and he forever loosing the tags so there are times where he not got a tag on but then he never off lead (no excuse)when walking
and when he is running around off lead there never any other dogs around (as do it in secure areas)and i remove his collar to stop him catching on things and having accidents

Yes kathy your right
The Control of Dogs Order 1992
This mandates that any dog in a public place must wear a collar with the name and address of the owner engraved or written on it, or engraved on a tag. Your telephone number is optional (but advisable).

Re: New Collar
Surly a harness is acceptable? if not they are pretty much useless as many pick either collar or harness i know a lot of people still have both but seems so STUPID!! whats the difference on tags on his harness and tags on his collar? Thanks for this KathyKathy wrote:Under the Control of Dogs Order 1992, all dogs must wear a collar and identity tag in a public place. The tag must show the owner’s name and address.
