Life continues with Louie
Haven't been on the forum for ages so I thought I'd pop in and update on how our Louie is doing and not doing lol
He's such a cute, adorable, frustrating and downright annoying dog and we love him to death.
We've finally had him desexed which I hoped would put a stop to his hyper behaviour but its barely slowed him down at all. He is still eating anything in site and lots of things that we don't see. He's been to the vet just a couple of days after his desexing because he was eating concrete and pooping out blood. The concrete was scratching his intestines so we had to change his diet a little bit to help with that and he was all good. A week after that was an emergency vet visit because he'd eaten half a tub of chocolate coated coffee beans!!! Vet gave him some soda crystals to make him vomit and some charcoal to bind to any that might have been absorbed but he survived that as well. Finally he was back at the vet just a few days ago for a bladder infection which has happened since the desexing. He slowly lost control of his bladder and was peeing inside all the time again. He is now on antibiotics and seems to be all good now.
He is still jumping and the biting is getting much worse. Nothing we do seems to change that behaviour. We keep giving him lots of chew toys and when he tries biting we tell him off with a really loud NO and give him a toy instead but he keeps doing it. I'm sure he'll grow out of it at some point.
We are still doing puppy school but with the desexing and eating the wrong food and the freezing cold and wet weather we've missed quite a few weeks.
I've made a facebook page for Louie if anyone is interested in 'liking' it. The link is 'sorry facebook links not allowed'
Does anybody know how to share video's or photo's on here? I tried once before but I couldn't get it to work.

Hi there, I'm sorry to hear of all louie's troubles, hopefully he's on the mend now
Have you seen this in regards to the biting?
http://staffy-bull-terrier.com/stop_your_staffy_puppy_biting
Be consistent and it will work eventually! Also work on your leave command for the eating stuff problem
And this should help with pics

Re: Life continues with Louie
Thanks Sazzle, I'll check out both of those links. The little angel is sound asleep on my lap right now. I'm sure he doesn't realise how big he is. He used to be able to curl up on my lap but now he's nearly 16 kilos and he pushes my legs over until he's comfy lol
Re: Life continues with Louie
They certainly like to make themselves comfy on you!!
I really found that yelping helped with Daisy's play biting (although she wasn't a pup when I got her, don't know if that makes a difference, I expect she was weaned too soon), it's like she knew from that, that she had hurt me! It is an ongoing process though, I still have to remind her from time to time.

Re: Life continues with Louie
Poor Louie! Sounds like he has been indulging in a bit too much haha. I hope he is okay now!
Great advice from Sazzle above, persistence, patience and consistency is definitely the key! I hope it all goes well

Re: Life continues with Louie
Maria he has indulged a bit more now. I baked a cake yesterday and found Louie happily devouring it. He ate over half!
