Ear infection!!!!
Had Kaiser at the vets today he has got a nasty ear infection only noticed it this weekend as he had been a bit under the weather and looked at his ear because he was scratching it and it did look very sore so. 67 pounds later he is on antibiotics and steroids because it is very inflammed then got to start him on ear drops next weeks as they said it would be too painful to do it now with it being so swollen and eventually he would always associate his ears with pain in future if we did the poor boy must of been in pain and never winged once. Has anyones dogs been on stroids before dont really like the idea of them but i know they will make him better in the long run i heard it can make them fat?

Re: Ear infection!!!!
Long term use of steroids can have side effects, but using them just short term, like this, won't have any bad effects.
Hope he's feeling loads better soon!

Re: Ear infection!!!!
Oh good he is on the steroids for 3 weeks. Funny though because when i took him the vets 2 months ago for his booster and health check the vet asked me about his ears and asked if he had ever had any problems and i said no and he said just keep an eye on them as his ears are very narrow and can be prone to infections. Had him 2 years never had problems then 2 months after he gets one the vet definately tempted fate

Re: Ear infection!!!!
Steroids are used to kick the immune system into overdrive they have probably given you a low dose so dont worry and the side effects are weight gain but 3 weeks shouldnt make much difference . Staffys are prone to ear problems I always clean and olive oil mine as a precaution as well as teeth brush as part of there routine
