Have i ruined my puppy with love
I fed alot of things to my puppy of the plate because i know he will like it,of course i leave out things like spicy stuff and things i know he really cant have but the general stuff on my plate i always throw down to him, since this hot weather as came hes been off his food, been thinking its linked to the weather, atm its been raining these past couple of days its stil warmish in the house but not sure if its warm enough to put him off.
I buy things like sardines in tomato saunce and tuna,he likes both but think he likes tuna more, today i have put hot water in his food to soften it up and he ate most of it around 12oclock.
When i first bought him he wanted fed at like 5 or 6am now he never wants food till at least 11am.
Apart from fish etc is there an sauces that are safe for dogs,i think he responds will when i add saunces,i know he likes milk in his food and i did it a few times before but know now hes not allowed milk at all.
This part of his life as you know is critical to his development so i want him to eat what he should be.
Im stressing out and finding myself putting human tin foods mixed in to make him eat it.
Dog wet food isnt an option
Thanks
Have i made him fussy ?

He may have had too many nice food of yours and is being fussy, I am not that experienced on this but know Vinnie never has our food, and he loves his nature diet which is meat with rice and veg, but as you don't want wet food I cant really help. Sure someone will be able to advise you more.

Re: Have i ruined my puppy with love
Hi I have never fed any dog human food from my plate or table asas it makes them beg for food and I don't want my dogs doing that to my childen at meals..perhaps you could save what you have and mix some in with his dog food to get him back on track.wet dog food is not so bad. If he struggles with his dry food maybe add a bit of gravy . Tuna and fish are good for them mind.don't think you have ruined him at all but I would wean him of table scraps soon as you can as a big dog he won't look so cute begging.. ( Says the woman who's pup is sat on me knee cuddling at 10lb in weight lol ouch)

True but when he needs to eat 3 times a day it messes with the time table of his eatting, plus food isnt as fresh,i would as everyone else much prefer he eats his dinner in one go

Re: Have i ruined my puppy with love
Mmmm I wouldn't be feeding a pup human food personally, as you mentioned 3 feeds atm so maybe do get a wet tray to mix in, but really wouldn't have Brox relying on human food as thats not good for them Xx

You can get doggie gravy from the larger pet stores, but I wouldn't give them human gravy at all.

Are you sure you're not putting down too much food? If he's growing well & he's fit & active then he must be getting enough nutrition from what he's eating. If you cut out all food from your plate he might start to appreciate his own food a little more.
Sardines are fine, so is a raw egg a couple of times a week. Plus you can add some salmon oil daily if he likes it. I wouldn't give tuna because a lot of tuna has high levels of mercury in them, and it's generally a bit saltier than sardines.

I can only really echo what has been said above, very occasionally if something I'm having is suitable for Daisy, I pop it to one side and put in in her bowl later. I don't like her to associate me eating with her getting food!
I also add eggs and fish to the dry food, sometimes some cooked mince too.

Re: Have i ruined my puppy with love
Chiquito is raw fed and has tried lots of people food. He has days when he will not eat his meals, or he will only eat small amounts of what I have put down for him. This isn't because he has tried people food, it is because he isn't hungry!
As long as the human food you give is safe (no cooked bones for example) and not being used to fill his tummy three times a day and as long as he is growing well and is happy and healthy a little people food will do him no harm.
Fussiness comes from being offered more and more choices when they refuse the first (so people food is an issue if he refuses to eat his food so you give him that instead!). Offer him his food, if he doesn't eat it after 5/10 minutes take it away and do not offer anything else until the next meal time .... he will eat it when he is hungry

Re: Have i ruined my puppy with love
My dogs love gravy in the winter but only a table spoon or two. I sugested it as you said didn't eat the dry food and wet not an option. As with all advice its there to be used or not. Hope you find what your pup likes.

Hi everyone ive read lots about adding salmon oil to puppy food to entice them to finish the food. Where do you buy this oil and is it readily available

Re: Have i ruined my puppy with love
I don't feed raw but other than that agree with Kell. If he previously enjoyed his dried, food his down and give him 5/10 mins opportunity to eat then take it away. Absolutely nothing until next meal time. It's tough love but for his own good. I give Bacchus appropriate human food, but only leftovers and never at the table but part of his next meal.
