Different barks
Since I got Daisy, she's only had one bark (that I can tell anyway, I'm sure to doggy ears there is variations to it!) It's a I want to play bark or I'm excited for my walk, tea etc Quite a strange little bark to be honest
But she now has another one which she has done a couple of time when she's seen someone walk past the house recently and the other day when she saw my sister walk up the path to the house. I could really tell the difference, it's much louder and deeper. I have to say I was quite impressed because she has never ever barked when anyone's come to the house, a rubbish guard dog! I like to think she feels she has something to protect now she's been here a while (nearly a year) and she's making her presence known! But who knows?!
But anyway I was wondering, how many different barks can you tell from your dogs?

Licking their feet! Too funny Saz, so cute when they have all these different barks, only wish I knew exactly what they were saying! Rocky has his playful bark, and his bark when he wants food, sought of a bark and grunt at the same time haha its funny.

Re: Different barks
Gwen has her pay attention to me/play with me bark, her whiny bark, and her deep protective bark! Up until about 3 weeks ago she only had the first two attention seeking barks and then randomly she started her deeper bark whenever someone she didn't know well came into our house!

Re: Different barks
Lola has a very, very deep short gruff when she hears another dog outside - sounds so strange coming out of such a little girly. Chloe only ever barks in her sleep - I think when she's dreaming because her legs start 'running' I guess she's chasing birds....

Re: Different barks
Blue has the what is that bark, the warning bark if someone knocks in the door, the play bark and that annoying high pitched bark when he is getting annoyed with something

Re: Different barks
It's probably because she is now maturing and finding her voice a bit more.
Rocky makes all sorts of noises that would I guess be classed as barks. He usually sounds like Charlie Says though, if you remember the public safety film of the 1070's.

Re: Different barks
What a good thread Saz, Vin has a very deep quite menacing bark when he hears a commotion outside. He doesn't bark when people knock on the door or if they come in. Apart from that its more of a old man piggy moan for play and cuddles!

Re: Different barks
Tyson's got a sort of quiet 'grrrwaff' if he thinks he hears something, and when he's definitely heard something or seen something in the back garden, he'll go mental - he's got quite a bark on him, I'm sure the neighbours think we have a rottweiler! Other than that he only ever makes squeaky noises and the occasional grunt when he's getting his belly scratched.

Re: Different barks
Roxy has so many : a little howl when she's just calling out to the neighbourhood; a gruff growly playful bark when she's happy to us or anyone else arriving; an warning bark if someone she doesn't know comes near the gate; a generaly happy woof when playing...so many!
