2nd injection
Hi
Roman has been to the vets today for his 2nd injection - 12 weeks as he was poorly so had to postpone a couple of weeks but he's weighing in at a healthy 6.4kg now so all is well.
How long before he's allowed out on his walks on the roads and to come in contact with other dogs?
He's itching to meet other dogs now, just looking isn't enough for him lol

Re: 2nd injection
Sorry I cannot help you never had one so young, I'm sure someone will be along shortly who can help.
Why not give your vet a quick call I'm sure they could answer you fairly quickly.
I think that once they have had their second jabs they are OK to go out but I'm not sure.

Re: 2nd injection
We had to wait a week after the 2nd jab to go out, if you call you vet I'm sure they'll advise you

They do say wait a week, but I normally leave it a few days and then start getting them out.

Re: 2nd injection
all vets are different as are areas, usually 1 - 2 weeks is normal. Go with your vets advice

Re: 2nd injection
I waited 2 weeks between both jabs and then once he had the 2nd jab, I waited a week to take him out. But during that week, I picked Zeus up and carried him around my area just so he got used to it etc. I also got him used to a lead which is a definite because Roman will most likely freak out the first time he has it on.
The way I done it and it worked great for me was to simply attach the lead to Zeus and let him walk around the house and back garden with it on and get used to it.

Re: 2nd injection
Our vets advice was two weeks after the second. It depends on the area you are in as to how high the risks are ... better safe than sorry though, I would follow the advice of your vet

Re: 2nd injection
I've had Roman walking around the garden since he was 8 weeks old so he's going to be fine on the roads. Until 10 weeks he was scared of traffic noise but now he's itching to get past the garden gate to have a proper walk! He's seen other dogs before but not had any contact with them, that's the bit I'm most looking forward to
