2nd Injection on Saturday
Hi Everyone,
can I ask how long you wait after the second injection to start going out for walks? Colin had an injection at 8 weeks that apparently was just for lepto which meant he then needed to have his full two injections so technically he's had 3 as of Saturday.... He is desperate to get out exploring and I am worried that he is missing out on crucial socialisation time if he has to wait any longer.... any advice from experienced owners would be great....... He was originally booked on puppy classes from 5th June, but they lost the paperwork so could be as late as July before they can get him on.....

Re: 2nd Injection on Saturday
the vets say 5-7 days when i had boss vaccinated.. you wont lose social time no need to worry, boss was rehomed at the age of 3 months and had to be vaccinated late, therefore wasnt allowed to walk untill over 4 months and he is amazing with other dogs. Hope this helps

Re: 2nd Injection on Saturday
We were told to wait ten days before taking Taco to a dog park after his last vaccination and to only socialise him with fully vaccinated animals in the interim. Longest wait ever!

I can't take credit for that one. My best friend is a graphic designer and photographer. She took that one on her phone!

Re: 2nd Injection on Saturday
I was told two weeks, Zeus had his first at 8 weeks, then his second at 10 weeks, then we took him out two weeks after that at 12 weeks old. During that time, I used to hold him and walk around my area just to get him used to his surroundings.

I was told two weeks after the last injection, Loki went out at 12 weeks old, I believe. It's fine, they don't miss out on any socialisation, they'll still handle it normally. That said, you can carry him around with you so he gets used to the sights and sounds of outside life (never letting him walk on the ground though).

We were told 7 days... It was the longest wait ever - We were so excited to take him out. The vet may have a different procedure to follow so just make a point of confirming it with the vet
