switching puppy to adult food
Hi there
Our 7 month old staffie-mix Pepper is curently on Barking heads puppy food, (with some occasional mackeral and raw eggs chucked in - not together mind)she is weighing a healthy 13kg, she is quite leggy and tall and pretty lean although starting to fill out a bit now and so not quite sure what her adult weight will be but wondering when do we make the switch over to adult food, was thinking of giving the Pero SBT a go.
we still feed her 3 times a day as well and wondering when we would switch down to 2.
any advice would be much appreciated.

Re: switching puppy to adult food
Darcy stopped eating her lunchtime meal herself so you may notice when she is ready to drop down to two meals a day, I think at 7 months you'll be fine to drop it down, Probabley about 12 months you could change her to adult kibble here is a list of dried foods to look through :- http://staffy-bull-terrier.com/dry_food hope this helps.

I'd change her to adult just now, I wouldn't have bothered about giving puppy food full stop! She should be on 2 feeds from 6months. I rate Eden dry food, although my two SBT's are raw fed!

Re: switching puppy to adult food
As suggested above, some people do not even use puppy food, however a vet will usually suggest a good puppy food through the first year.
Is there a recommendation on the food you use for when to change to the adult? A lot suggest 12 months, however some foods are for all life stages so may be suitable from puppydom through to adulthood

Re: switching puppy to adult food
I moved from Wainwrights puppy for Tommy at around 6 months when we moved them both onto Fish 4 Dogs (Tilly was on Wainwrights adult ) as they were constantly stealing each others food anyway . Have to say noticed zero difference and Tommy's Breeder thinks he is a fine specimen and always comments (anyway that's just my vanity )
We moved off Fish 4 Dogs after about 3 months and now they both have Wainwrights adult , again no problems.
Tommy has been on 2 meals since just before 6 months , again no problems and just fitted in with his eating habits . At the moment tempted to move to 1 feed a day but resisting until this weather cools down a bit as they are not eating well at the moment anyway as it is so bloody warm all the time
Hope this helps but I'm no expert
