Aloe Vera is also good for calming this kind of thing down. Hope it's soon better.

Re: I could scream!
Thanks all have rang my doctor, and she said to take 6 piriton today and 6 tomorrow and if no better go to docs tomorrow evening. Showed my Mum who was her usual optimistic self, telling me if it was poison I could lose my leg! Bloody hell bit drastic:lol:

Re: I could scream!
Am beginning to get a tad concerned now as the red and tautness is spreading further up my leg. It started behind my knee and is now nearly up to my thigh. Took 4 piritons another 2 later, I may pop to the hospital me thinks. Anyone else had this before?

Re: I could scream!
I've been bitten by gnats, mozzies, midges - even fleas!
I slap some anti-histamine cream on (Anthisan) and it's a godsend against the itchiness and localised swelling.
But the only time I had a heeooge swelling like you describe is when I got bitten by a horsefly, which are evil, evil brutes. Have you been around horses, Inez?
Hope you're OK ....

Its a little better Maria but still flaming red and hot and very puffy, I do think the Piriton and cold compresses are helping though. Thanks for asking hun xx:)Maria90 wrote:How are you today Inez? Hope its cleared up for you!

Re: I could scream!
I'd keep a careful eye on it, at the very least, but you might want to get it seen. If it's spreading or getting worse, it could lead to problems.
Hope you feel better soon!

Re: I could scream!
Thanks Eleanor I have just got back from the docs, she said "Oh dear" when she saw it so is treating me with 2weeks antibiotics so if there is any Lymes it will cure it.Eleanor wrote:I'd keep a careful eye on it, at the very least, but you might want to get it seen. Glad she gave you something!
'Oh dear'? That must have been comforting to hear from a doctor!

Re: I could scream!
Good you went to the doctor, Inez, I hope it is getting easier. Cold compresses are a good idea, and one that never occurs to me when I'm bitten (or stung) - I just rush for the Anthisan.
Can you get Lymes from an insect bite? That's a new one for me.
Wishing you a rapid recovery

Re: I could scream!
Thank you Lynda x I think she was just making sure encase of a deer tick as she said there was a white ring around the bite. So a precaution I think xx
