School Holiday Changes ??
Not too sure that this would be a good idea, what if you have different aged children in different schools with different holidays, logistical nightmare

Yeah it's ok for people like me with only one child at school but if you had several children in different schools then it'd be a nightmare, it would on the other hand perhaps stop the holiday companies hiking the prices up.

Maybe where you are, but round here they're quite good.

Here there is a mix of both good & bad schools luckily I did my research and molly is at a good school. I believe that the time spent in school still has to be the same amount of days as now, but the school can set their own holidays.

They have to have a minimum number of days (190 I think) but they can increase that & decrease the amount of holidays. Decreasing holidays (in my opinion) won't make an iota of difference to bad schools, but will make a difference to parents/children/teachers.
What about summer holidays? Not everybody will be able to take 2 weeks holiday during a shortened summer break of four weeks.

Heard it earlier, and IMO i don't think it's a very good idea, certainly can't see it going down well with parents especially with more then one child

For us I think the local schools would work together or the reasons you mention above. Saying that though no effect on me at the moment anyway , I can take my holidays when I want and Jo works at the same school Jenny will be starting at in September

Re: School Holiday Changes ??
i cant see the the teachers liking it , i know quite a few as well as teacher assistants and they love that long break , it would also affect people like my mum whom escorts children with disabilities and learning difficulties to and from school ,

Re: School Holiday Changes ??
I don't have children so it won't affect me but I would have thought standard holidays just work better, otherwise it would have been changed ages ago?

Re: School Holiday Changes ??
If they go ahead with a shortened summer break you'll get far more parents taking their children out of school for a fortnight each year because they just can't fit their hols in with a four week break.
