New school Empty New school

Post by Jenc Tue Apr 22 2014, 20:39

Well Katy & I started at our new school last night. After being expelled for her growling & barking at other dogs in agility class  Rolling Eyes Newbies were to arrive at 6, normal classes 1/2hr later. So we arrived with a bit of dread on my part, only one other pup there (a pug) She started off by asking if I ever have a slack lead with Katy  Laughing Laughing Laughing  with my answer she said have I tried a 1/2 check collar (no I said) Well she had one for us to try, wow what a difference no pulling (just ordered one  Big Grin )
Well she did everything I asked her to do, sit & wait, down, fetch & retrieve her toy & even to stay in a down when I was 5 paces away talking to the trainer  thumbs up & to top it all off she only grumbled once at the other dog (quietly)
By then a couple of other dogs arrived, she asked them to do a circuit round the hall passing us (5ft away) Katy sat at my side not making a noise but I must admit trembling quite a lot.
Lets see how she does next Monday as we are straight in with a proper class.
Very proud mummy  Love Struck

Good news. We use the 1/2 check as well but also use a no pull harness at the same time. If we get to a spot where we need more head control we switch from the harness to the collar.

I tried Katy on a no pull harness but unfortunately she didn't read the instructions  Laughing Laughing This type of collar seems more promising.
