Re: Index of exempt dogs
I don't think there are any members here who have one, but I know there are many pitbull 'types' on the exempt list.

Re: Index of exempt dogs
There's a story behind the question i suppose i should share....I liked a page on facebook called "legalize pitbulls in the uk" because in my opinion breed specific law is stupid to cut a long story short i commented on a couple of the post and the page creator made me an admin of the page and i had a look through the private messages and there are alot of people out there with APBT's or "types" and most of them were worried about there dogs being taken by police and others has had there dogs put down and a few had there dogs given back on put on the register

Yes, there are a lot of 'types' out there. Generally speaking they are left alone as long as they are friendly & well trained - dog and owner!

Re: Index of exempt dogs
pitbull wont never be take off the ban list. i dont think i would want that all becasue the amount of staffy that would be homeless over night becasue the owner want a pitbull would be scary
Re: Index of exempt dogs
Agreed. Too many staffies in rescues already - if the Pit Bull came back, you'd get idiots dumping their 'status' staffies in favour of getting a Pit. Irresponsible owners would undoubtedly swarm to get one.
The ones on the exempt list are mainly types. As has already been mentioned, usually there is no problem unless there has been an aggressive incident with that dog.

Re: Index of exempt dogs
licenses would just punish the good owners, the people who many these problem wouldn't care and it would just be another bills for poor people
Re: Index of exempt dogs
Unfortunately, I have to agree. I wish there was a way to separate the good from the bad like that, but a license means paying - and paying for renewals, as well as sorting out whether or not you would need a different license for multiple dogs. Good people would end up having to fork out a lot of money for a dog license, or end up not having a dog at all, while the irresponsible owners would just blow the whole thing and keep a dog illegally.

Plus, it would require people who already have dogs to purchase licenses as well. If these people couldn't afford it, they'd probably be made to give up their dog, even if they've had them for years. More dogs in rescues.

Tbh I'd never even thought of the cost, it's just a shame there is nothing free in place to prevent idiots owning an animal of any kind xx
