Locking Jaw myth debunked
Interesting little article...I'd say most of us know the facts anyway, but it's good to see it in print!

Glad you put that on Caryll. Fed up with people saying that about Staffs. e.g 'if that type of dog bites it's jaws will lock and you won't get it off'!

I keep coming across this jaw-locking myth too, which has spread to Staffies, alongside the skull-splitting myth.
Good to read the article, thank you Caryll. The thing that shocked me the most in this article is that 1 million (ONE MILLION ) dogs of pit-bull type are destroyed every year in the US.

Re: Locking Jaw myth debunked
Some heavy stuff on there. If these things have happened it must still come back to the owner,, you can't just say i'm human so one rule for me and another for everything else whether i caused it or not. Some people take this further and do it to other people too. There seems to be a bit of sadism involved and a desire to be connected to something scary to others. When it all goes wrong and looks threatening to them they drop the animal and hide behind fear and prejudice that they've partly created to clear themselves.
Re: Locking Jaw myth debunked
It's the breeding side of things that needs to be controlled so that there aren't so many dogs to get hold of in the first place. A throw-away society will always show contempt for anything they can get hold of so easiily.
