another walk rant

Off we went to our usual park this afternoon, kids on extended leads. It was busier than usual. First bit of the walk an elderly man was walking with his two little dogs but he was waaaay ahead of them and didn't realise one had approached us, hackles up and ears back. It stood staring and Vinny gave it his "I want to play" bark (Vinny has a verrrrry deep bark) and eventually the thing ran off - we shouted and shouted to the owner to come and get it and he just carried on walking.

Then a little way a long a fluffy French Poodle comes bounding up to us, which means our two were pulling like mad on their leads, tangling us up and the woman stands a good way a way smiling. Now my two being young are over exuberant and very "in your face" so we keep them on lead and are respectable of everyone else's space - why can't they do the same > Eventually the woman starts calling the dog in but ever so quietly. So I shout to her to try a little harder and she stands still and smiles, by which time I just see red!!!! Eventually she comes up to us and just stands there so I say "get your bloody dog on lead and go away" and she goes "oh how sad, why are they on lead? It's a dog park, they shouldn't be on lead" She then adds "unless they're aggressive." The OH turned to her and said "they're bloody aggressive now get your dog away" and off she went. It was kinda funny and very very annoying that people are who they are.

We're being responsible by keeping ours from bounding up into other dog's faces. Next time I'm going to jump all over the person and get in their space

PS they're not aggressive...we were just very annoyed.

Haha your OH told her straight! If she thought they were aggressive she would have come straight over and tried harder to get her pooch on a lead! You handled it well, but people are soooo ignorant to things like this and have no decency for other pets what so ever!

Grrrr some people, it's a shame they didn't spend more time educating them selves about pooch etiquette

I wish we had those collars and leads here that say "friendly," "anxious" etc!

Not over here no. I think I'll order online though When I ordered the extended leads they took about 8 weeks to get here I think it was But still, I think it's a good idea...when we walk we like to keep to ourselves and just enjoy being with the furkids - so those leads are a great idea!

Yeah eBay sell them, do you not know anyone in the uk who could order and pay for them the then ship them faster?

I was just going to say what Hayley said. My Uncle lives in SA and I got him something he couldn't get over there and just posted it to him

Ooh don't get me started again, I just think people have no regards for their dogs whatsoever !

Just new and scanning the forums. I hate when owners do this aswell. I've always had Alsations. And there strong dogs and this used to annoy me when trying to get mine under control when the other owners not bothering there arse. Simple solution I ised to do was just let mine of. You soon see them rush to get there dogs when they realise it's getting chased of mine. I just used to say don't you worry either mine just wants to play.
