Something simple that work's
Torrez has very sensitive paw's, so every now and then we bathe his paw's in bicarbonate of soda in luke warm water and it does the trick.

That's interesting Karen, thank you for the tip.
do you know how bicarb helps sensitive paws - is it just the pads or also deep in between the pads?

Hey Lynda, well Torrez can get quite bad sometime's, it look's raw in-between his pad's, and they naturally want to lick it to make it better - but that make's it worse, so that was why we started using the bicarb and is is good. One time though, his paw was that bad that we had to cover it - so we used one of my trainer socks and abit of tape lol, looked so funny, he wasent very happy though hehe. Does Kuchar have problem's? The vet's just give you spray - that's another thing, I use the spray of normal anti-septic savlon on his paw's, or anywhere if he has a small wound, sometime's on his dew claw. Hope this help's

Bicarb sounds interesting. I've always used a salt water solution. Just goes to show that you can always get new tips!

Re: Something simple that work's
Yes Karen, Kuchar does have a problem with one of his front paws. He's a dark brindle dog but all his paws are white, they look like they've been dabbled in milk - it's so cute - but only this one front paw seems to bother him and he chews at it occasionally. The pads are pink (pinker than the pads on his other paws) and the fur between the pads (deep into his foot) is a stained darkred/brown colour. He doesn't limp but as I say, he goes at it.
He absolutely hates his feet getting wet (he is a bit of wuss about his paws so it will be a bit of a battle) but I am going to try your bicarb solution technique tomorrow. Do you give it a quick dip or really massage the solution around the pads and deep into the foot?

Re: Something simple that work's
Hey Lynda, poor Kucher, it is such ashame when they have something wrong with their paws it makes you feel like you cant do anything for them. That does sound really quite sore, with Torrez i think that it is the grass that makes them worse, bit hard to keep them off the grass though lol. But to be serious though, usually the bicarb thing we usually steap Torrez's paw's in a basin of water, front two first, then back one's, it shouldn't sting, when we started doing it he didn't really like it, now I think that he knows that it helpsand he just put's up with it, but that's what hubby is for lol, just sit with him, and we usually do 10mins front then back, but I think that may be a problem for you, all you can do is try. Also the sock thing that I was talking about, we just used one of my small socks and but type round it, but he wasent to sure about it lol, he kept looking at it as if to say what have you done to me, lol. But I was in a different pet-shop recently and I actually found - paw protector's, they looked quite good, we might get them. Yeah poor Kucher, he just think's that by liking his paw it will make it better, but it is just making it worse, I would highly recomend that you cover it, we used a normal bandage at one point, better to be safe than sorry, and prevention better than cure. Hope this help's
