Growth and weight
Hi guys, Just abit of a story leading to a question.... Sheen (named after charlie sheen of course ) my 6 month old pup keeps getting commented on by quite alot of people for being in there words "massive" "huge" and loads of others for his age and when we last went to the vet (he goes every month for check up) he was put on the scales and the vet said "that cant be right lets just weigh him again on the other scales" turns out it was right and he weighs around 3 stone at 6 month old and hes bigger than most other staffs around here apart from his head of course. So getting to the point my question is, From what you gathered as owners when do they stop growing height wise and when does there head stop growing and finally when do they have there "fill out" so to speak.
and just to add he isnt fat as the vet said so and he gets walked 2-3 times a day heres a pic of him chilling on the rug

Re: Growth and weight
I still see Moo develop now and she is 4. I suppose as a rule of thumb its said upwards in the first year and out in the next, did you see the parents as that will give you a good idea Xx

Re: Growth and weight
At 6 months, wouldn't worry too much. Every dog is different and will grow at different rates. Lola is same age and to be honest looks in proportion other than her small head and big ears!! Haven't weighed her in a while but I reckon she's a good few kilos off urs. But yeah, u do have a chunky boy.

Re: Growth and weight
Chiquito is 5 months and weighs 14 kg (2.2 stone) .. vet is happy with his weight - people often tell me he is not chunky enough for a staff though! They change shape so often at this age - as long as he is healthy I don't worry, he will be the right shape for him
Out of interest ... do you know how tall he is?

Re: Growth and weight
I definitely wouldn't worry at all at this age just enjoy him, if the vets happy that he's healthy and he's excised as he should be i.e 5 mins per month of age (2/3 25 mins) per day then he'll be fine.

Re: Growth and weight
I didnt see the parents myself but my mum said they were massive and as for his height hes not actually that tall and hes not noticeably going any taller id say hes around 1 and 3/4 feet tall

Re: Growth and weight
At this age they change so much I really wouldn't worry much. I was worried a bit about rocky being the right weight and height but every dog is different. I was told as long as you can see a clear waist line and the last 2 ribs they are generally a good weight. He looks like a little chunk though sooo cute!

Re: Growth and weight
I would say he doesn't look to bad at all, he still has plenty of growing to do, maybe a standing up photo would show us a bit better, but from what I can see, he looks fine to me.

Re: Growth and weight
Bacchus has been 20 kilos snce he was about 7 mths old but still the same weight now. Difference is the puppy fat is now converting into muscle.
He has also always been a big pup. Even when we picked him up at 9 weeks he was 30% bigger than his sisters. I wouldn't get too hung up on weight, you will visibly see if he is too fat or too thin.
