Orijen puppy food for 5 months old Stafford alternatives
Hi, I currently feed my 5 month old Staffy Orijen puppy food but he has had on and off runny poos for a while now. I have decided to give up on this kind of food as it obviously doesn't agree with him and was wondering what good alternatives are out there for him that you think would be better for him.
Thanks Dean

I fed darcy jwb puppy, and then changed to arden grange. Check out the link, it's some dried food recommendations.

If you decide to change, change over 7/10 days. Start with more of his existing food and a little new food, each day adding more of the new food and less of the old until its all new food, just to give his little tummy time to adapt to the change and then hopefully there won't be any upsets hope this helps, good luck.

I had the same problem when I had Zeus on Orijen, the protein content was too high and it caused runny poos/blocked anal glands etc. I've moved him onto James Wellbeloved now and it's working great (touchwood), you may want to give that a try. Cheaper than Orijen too!

Eden is a good food, £50 for 15kg similar to Orijen/Acana! 80% meat 20% fruit and veg 0 grain!

Eden is what I was going to put both my dogs on as soon as the puppy was ready for adult food but im worried that it may cause similar problems that the Orijen is causing.
Unless Eden isn't as rich as Orijen and you think its worth a try?

Don't know the differences between Eden and Orijen, but my 3 were on it at one point till I switched them to raw! My old girl is still on Eden and is doing brilliantly on it!
You don't need puppy food, I'd switch them both onto the same food

Re: Orijen puppy food for 5 months old Stafford alternatives
When Herbie was a puppy he was on JWB meat & biscuits & did really well on it, he became bored so we gradually changed his meat to applaws & biscuits to Arden grange but since as I have quite a few friends with different breeds of dogs who all swear by the raw feeding I did my homework on it asked lots of questions & we are in our 6-8 week of raw feeding & Herbie is doing pretty good on it although I'm still finding he's being a fuss pot but we're getting there. Applaws are meant to be pretty good one my friend feeds her staffies this & they are beautiful x
