Lesson learned
So I was wondering why Abby had been overly nippy the past couple of days (more than expected for a pup anyway) and I realised that we weren't letting her get enough sleep during the day and making her cranky.
This was mainly my fault at feeling guilty at not interacting with her enough during her first week but now have seen the error of my ways and will be utilising the crate a lot more during the day. Silly really because I've been following the tips about not molly coddling over everything else but missed that basic one!
Glad I nipped that one in the bud if you excuse the pun lol.
In other news I was very proud of her last night as I put her to bed at 10:30 and woke up at 5:30AM to no whining and no accidents at all as I missed my 3AM alarm. She got to snuggle with me in bed for 20 minutes after I took her to the toilet:

Re: Lesson learned
Well done, they are much better behaved when you let them have their alone time. It also helps for the times you have to leave them by themselves since they are more comfortable with it

Nothing better than snuggling in bed with an adorable little puppy
Good girl Abby, and yes you're right - when a puppy wants to rest and sleep during the day they should be allowed to do so. All too soon she'll be jumping around wanting to play at the most inconvenient of times!

Re: Lesson learned
haha, She is gorgeous, trust me I'm learning to .... you appreciate those cute quiet times, give it a few more weeks and you will be constantly up and down, letting her out, playing with her, saying No and then the puppy crazies start! My daughter is 18 next week, and trust me, feel like I've gone back to new baby syndrome! In fact, having a baby was easier, don't regret a second of it though (the baby or the pup) lol! They grow so quickly!

Re: Lesson learned
It's certainly a major learning curve! Good thing is after letting her get a lot of sleep yesterday evening and all night she was a very calm little pup during the morning, playing without getting overly hyperactive.

Re: Lesson learned
What a lovely photo, they are always tired at such a young age. All you want to do is play with them and train them and love them! But all that learning tires them out pretty quickly.

Re: Lesson learned
Great stuff! At this age they need lots of rest/naps throughout the day, they get tired very easily! Gwen would nap every 2 hours for at least an hour or so when she was little, man I miss those times lol! How old is Abby now? She is so adorable!
