my staffie won't * his leg anymore
ever since alfie was neutered which was about a year ago, he doesn't * his leg anymore he just squats and when we take him to the dog exercise area, he is so mellow that he lets the other dogs hump him

Re: my staffie won't * his leg anymore
Dogs only lift their legs to mark territory. Could just be that he doesn't feel the need to mark his territory any more because he's been neutered.

That's strange, Rocky has been neutered but he always does lift his leg when he pees.
How old was Alfie when he was done??

Re: my staffie won't * his leg anymore
If he was neutered before he learned the behaviour of leg lifting, he probably hasn't formed the habit yet. A lot of dogs only continue to lift their legs because they're accustomed to doing it.

Re: my staffie won't * his leg anymore
He never really had a chance to learn the behaviour properly, so there's no need for him to do it now.

My guess is that he just didn't form the habit then. By all means though, contact your vet if you're worried to make sure there are no underlying health issues.

He was castrated before he had a chance to develop mature ways, so he probably can't see the need for it.
It really doesn't matter as far as his every day life is concerned, and at least he won't pee up your leg!
