Being allergic to dogs Empty Being allergic to dogs

Well im allergic to dogs etc tho i havnt really being allergic to puppy yet but im guessing its coz hes only started going outside and hasnt picked up anything in his coat etc,i know my last dog i was bad with just like all animals.

Anyone here got any advice,it is for me the most depressing thing ever but it will never stop me from getting dogs,i know one of the best things i can do is always wash my hands threwout the day and try to remember not to touch my face threwout the day. and generally try and keep the house clean.

Is there anyother methods you can do to reduce whatever is on the dogs coat to stop the allergy becoming stronger.

Ooh difficult one, I know some say that the more you are around the thing that causes the allergy it can improve the resistance.. I would just carry on doing what you're doing. I'm sure someone will be along to give you more advice in a tick... Big Grin

Do you take anti histamines?

My daughter (Eleanor) is allergic to some animals (especially long coated ones) and occasionally needs to take anti histamines to reduce the symptoms.

I take an anti-histimine if i know im going to be grooming cats or fluffy ponies or rabbits or anything cause soft fur would make me very allergic.

After pooch has been outside give him a wipe down with a damp towel this should help to stop the spread of the allergens coming into the home.

I'm allergic to dog saliva - so when my 2 lick me I get an immediate red bumpy itchy rash. I take an antihistamine a day which keeps it under control - and vitamin b complex to help my immune system.

Yeah, not pleasant. Tongues Antihistamines work wonders though and are cheap, especially if you get a generic brand.

I'm mildly allergic to Dempsey, but only when he sheds. Antihistamine in the morning when I get up, then again before bed. Does the trick. Smile
