New to this forum & need some advice on a couple of things
Hi fellow Staffie lovers I'm new to this so firstly would like to say hello & thank you for reading.
I have a 9 month old Staffie called Herbie who has over the last 4 weeks decided to turn into mr picky with his food. My friend looked after him for a week as we went away on hols & as he wouldn't eat she had started to feed chicken & pasta which was fine with us. I've been reading up about raw feeding for a while & tried him on Sunday with a small portion of prize winners tripe (from pets at home in freezer section) needless to say he loved it. I'm all for anything natural & herbal so will try anything as long as it doesn't harm him. My questions are how do I know how much to feed him? Can I add other things I.e pasta/rice/carrot etc to the raw meat? Can I give raw straight away? Or do I need to introduce slowly? Thank you for reading Laura & Herbie x

Re: New to this forum & need some advice on a couple of things
Hi and welcome from me and Vinnie. I don't know much about raw feeding but they can get fussy sometimes with food. It took a good 12 months before I found the diet that suited Vinnie. I think if you go for a raw diet you need to do a lot of research, but there will be someone along soon to be able to advise you more.

Re: New to this forum & need some advice on a couple of things
Hi and welcome from Chiquito and I
Chiquito has been on a half raw/half dry diet since he came home, and has recently changed to a full raw diet which he loves! As per the posts above, there is loads of information in the the diet and nutrition area, if you pop by and have a read the information/posts there that will help with a lot of your questions ... and if you have any more you can always start a new thread - we love questions

Re: New to this forum & need some advice on a couple of things
Hi and welcome!
You should feed around 2-3% of body weight (expected if not fully grown) when feeding raw. You can swap straight over to raw but start with only one kind of meat at a time and then as your dog adjusts to it slowly introduce more one by one!
You don't need to add anything if you are doing the raw diet right. You can give fruit and veggies as a treat if you like though, but they don't need it!
You'll find more information about food and raw feeding in the diet section of the forum

Re: New to this forum & need some advice on a couple of things
That sounds about right Laura. Personally, I think it would be better to use the advocate wormer once every three months as long as the raw food is fresh and from a reliable source, but a lot comes down to personal preference.
