Sniffer dog Staff?
Rupes and I went for a mega walk today in a mega field. I came home to find that my ***** phone had fallen out of my pocket and is (I hope) somewhere in the field. I am going back there now to comb the area with Rupes. Do you think there is any hope at all that he will track it with his nose? I am praying yes as I have everything on my mobile, not to mention cost of replacing (aaargh, don't want to think about it...)
Would your Staff make a good sniffer dog/detective?

Re: Sniffer dog Staff?
How annoying, I hope you find it quickly. Are you able to take another mobile with you to ring it so you could locate it ??
I'm sure Rocky is part Bloodhound, he is always sniffing something

Re: Sniffer dog Staff?
I doubt he'd find it unless you've been working on it with him. Treats? Yes. A phone? Unlikely. Loki's favourite things are treats and sniffing, so I did that with him, he sniffs out the field to find treats I've dropped, very fun. Not sure how to go about introducing non-food items though. I hope you find it but I'd imagine a phone doesn't have a particularly strong, nor interesting, smell for him to search it out.

Yes, and it's not very interesting to chew either.
We didn't find it.

Re: Sniffer dog Staff?
Chances are that someone has picked it up. As above, try calling it from another phone. If you have another mobile that you can use to call it whilst searching the field, IF it's still there and not switched off, then you may find it - depends on how many other people use the field.
Good luck ><

Re: Sniffer dog Staff?
A friend texted my phone late last night with her number and please call me note. Amazingly someone had Picked up the phone about a minute before as they had seen it glinting in the sun and called my friend immediately. I now have my phone back and am downloading all my photographs.
However - this is like a terrible scene in a bad sitcom - I slipped on a fox hole this morning and turns out I have fractured my ankle. Leg in cast and crutches . Can't walk properly so am putting a plan in action for rupert. Feels like a surreal dream.

Is it a iPhone? if so before you get it blocked try using the icloud.com website, that will show you exactly where it is, providing you have the feature turned on.

Great news My phone met with an accident travelling down ysterdsy in a cup of water , died immediately, came back to life for a few minutes today and then died again , I'm fearing the worst

Re: Sniffer dog Staff?
I'm so glad you have reunited with your phone, Rupert's mummy - there are some honest people in the world! And so sorry to hear about your ankle , it must be sooooo painful. I hope that you can find someone to exercise Rupert whilst you heal, which I hope will take as short a time as possible.
And Dave, I'm sorry to hear you drowned your phone. I gave my son a mobile for his birthday and that evening he tried to teach it to swim in a pint of beer with exactly the same result - death.

Re: Sniffer dog Staff?
So pleased you have reunited with your phone, great to know there are still some genuine people out there
Not so pleased to hear about your ankle, I put mine over the other day and sprained it, soooo painful I can sympathise. Get an ice pack on it if you can, do you have any anti inflammitory tablets at home ? Plenty of rest with the foot up, big hugs your way >< ><
