A fantastic story, for staffies and for rescues.

I am glad Staffies and all of the Bull breeds are finally getting to show their stuff. While their nose is not the best, in many ways that is not always the best anyway. I am not sure of all the fact but I read it is something like 6000 times better than our own and able to distinguish components. The important thing is intelligence. Again not the best but up there behind the border collie and poodles. It was deemed the best all around dog for service dogs if you include sight hearing and mobility. Until after World War 2 it was deemed the All American Dog.. It is now just recovering from years of slanted press, mistaken ideas, and prejudice. I once believed it too. Finally owners and forum like this, demanded honest reporting and instead of following the parade, judge it through open eyes. I will be the first to say the dog breed is not perfect but no breed is. There will be exceptions. As a mobility dog it excels. The problem is working to its strengths not its weakness which are few. Many of the issues faced in returning US Veterans is PTSD or what they used to call Shell-Shock. I am not sure but maybe they can sense all the person needs is to be understood. Probably because it is a perceived tough guy that just want to cuddle. I am not sure, just I know it works when no other breeds don’t. The same strength that drug me through the brush, can be harnessed into help someone up some steps or out of a chair. Since they are more compact they fit into areas others don’t . They have shorter hair they do not need the maintenance of other breeds. I call it drip and dry fur. They can do just about anything the other breeds can, all they need to have a chance. I don’t need to remind anyone here, if it is a child’s service dog, You don’t need to hire a bodyguard. Well done Cookie,! Show the world you aren’t just another Pretty Face.
