Is it normal....?
I know dogs gets excited whenever they see their owner, unlike cats but my puppy gets soooo overly excited when I come home that she:
* jumps on her kennel
* jumps off
* runs around me a few times
* runs around the backyard
* runs towards me then jumps on top of her kennel
She also doesn't listen when I tell her to sit/drop. She still shakes hands with me so that's a good thing.
The thing is, when my partner comes home, she's more behaved around him. Always sits next to him for a cuddle and if asked to sit, she'll sit.
It's another story for when I join them, she forgets about him and just focuses on me. My partner thinks that it's because she sees less of me, that's why she's always excited coz she missed me so much.
Question is.... is this normal? Is this a staffy thing? Is it a dog thing? (Former cat owner.)

Re: Is it normal....?
Completely normal!
If you want it to stop, try ignoring all of these behaviours.
When you come home, no touch, no eye contact, no talk. Just walk in, do your regular things and ignore her until she is calm and relaxed. Then you can call her over for a cuddle!
She'll slowly learn that her "crazy behaviour" wont get your attention but sitting nicely and waiting patiently will! She is a lot more likely to listen to your commands when she is calm as well!

Very normal. Loki's the same but he'll sit when I tell him to now. I ignore him unless he sits and calms down

Normal. Just be thankful that she doesn't wee in her excitement, like my sister's bitch does!

Re: Is it normal....?
Completely normal, Zeus is exactly like this everytime I get back from work. He goes completely mental, running around the room, jumping on me, jumping on the sofa, quickly having a sip of water then running back to me, he's all over the place!
The only behaviour which I don't want from him is the jumping, so I completely ignore him when he does that, and I tell him off when he jumps on the sofa. He's got the hang of it now, he'll still be a maniac when I get back in but he won't jump as much.
