Re: show dogs
I used to do a bit of showing when my girl was a pup, she did okay and got placed every time out but she didnt go quite as far as I hoped so we stopped when she got to about a year. Im going to show her pup though when hes born, was there anything in particular you wanted to know?

Re: show dogs
A flat collar is fine, not oo thick & heavy or you'll spoil the shape & length of the neck. Leather always looks good on staffs.
The colour you wera isn't that important as long as you don't wear white if you have a white staff or black if you have a black staff etc. A lot of judges like the handlers to look smart & some countries have a 'dress code' for showing. In the uk people tend to dress casually unless it's a big show like Crufts when they'll tart it up a bit! After all, it's the dog that is being judged, not the handler!

Re: show dogs
On a puppy I would use a flat, buckle collar not a slip or half check. My puppy show set is really narrow so that the judge can see the shape of the pup's neck properly and it's conformation.
Over here there is no particular dress code but I usually just put something reasonably smart on, tailored trousers or a longish skirt. I know its not the human that is being judged, but I know from experience with horse showing that if dog (or horse) and owner make a pretty picture together they are more easy on the eye and will attract a judge to place them.
You will move at a trot, try not to let your dog start running. A jog/trot is fine, you want them to be showing their movement as best they can. Try not to slow down/speed up. Keep a constant speed. Here the judge will ask us to run the dog up and down, this is the only chance you have to show your dog's movement so make the most of space. Teach your dog to turn tidyly, sometimes the judge will want you to run the dog in a triangle. (These are our UK rules, not sure about Aus...).
What colour is your puppy? Have you got a photo?

Re: show dogs
And most of all have "fun" if your dog enjoys the attention he will show himself. There is nothing nicer than when the judge goes for the rosettes and the dogs ears go up and they stand solid to attention as if to say pick meeeeeeee

Dads gorgeous! Reminds me of my girl Skibadee. You'll have to get some photos of your pup on here would be great to see him. And what Gem said is so right, if your worrying or nervous the dog will pick up on it and wont show himself off to his best! Make it fun and your pup will shine.

Re: show dogs
I really hope you do well at showing but a loyal loving pet is first and foremost you have to be able to take knock backs but if you beleive in your pup then go for it, have a open mind and enjoy yourself whatever the outcome. Here in the uk the competition is very high having over 30 top quality dogs in some classes and of course you will hear its fixed usually from the ones not doing well.

Re: show dogs
Well done!
Great pics, I can see why he won. He is a stunner
Blue hates having his collar off. I think I'll take it off for a bit and let him feel more relaxed. He goes mental and won't settle until I put it back on
