Re: owners of a partially sighted or blind dog out there??
Hi,
Sorry if you have already said this elsewhere. How long has she been blind?
My last dog went blind and for a week or so she struggled finding her way. She was never very good at being approached by other dogs but this was a lot worse after and sadly this never improved
However, after a week or so she was fully able to do everything, walks, find her food/water. Knew her way around the house etc.
At the time I was living at home. My Dad got these little garden seperators from B&Q to block off certain areas and guide her around the places she was safe in. She swore by them for a while but again, after a week or so she didn't need them at all.

Thanks for replying. Well we have been told she was probably born like it but the vet also thought it could be due to a head trauma.
She is a lovely little thing and perfect with dogs she knows and is now able to cope with strange dogs at a distance. Sadly at the moment she is very nervy on different walks but ive omly had her two months I do hope we are able to enjoy a beach stroll together one day

You will, I'm certain
After a few months a fully sighted dog will still be settling in. It will take a bit longer but it will get there.
Get toys that allow you to put smelly treats in them, like kongs etc. Really stimulate her sense of smell. Never forget that is their strongest sense anyway.
Don't be worried about her nervousness either (I know, it's hard) but she will pick up on you feeling like this. Just feel happy that she has a good home, anything else is a plus
