Tommy - 2 year old Staffie fostered in South Wales
Tommy is a 2 year old Staffie and is currently on foster in Bridgend.
The Tommy Fact File
Dog status: Very good.
Cat status: Very good
Child status: Very good.
Home alone: Can be left for short periods. May be possible for full time workers but would need to be discussed.
House training: Very good
Basic training: Good basics and recall.
Tommy is dog friendly, cat friendly, great with people and the dream foster dog.
Tommy is in foster with other dogs, cats and chickens and has settled in with all without incident. He has met a variety of dogs of various ages and sizes and has been great with all inside and outside the house. He could be rehomed with or without another dog but he really does enjoy company. Tommy has been brilliant with the resident cats and seems uninterested in the chickens.
Tommy loves people and loves to say hello but even though excited will wait for permission. His good looks and puppy dogs eyes mean that sometimes he will listen to men more than women! He has met children when out and about and has been kind and gentle … the only concern being he will shower them with kisses!
Tommy has come on great while in foster and from initially having no toilet training is now clean in the house though we would expect that he may regress a little after a move. He has good basic training and is still learning the finer points but walks well on a long lead and is fine tuning the short version. In quiet areas he is excellent but can get excited in busier places. He will need some further work on recall with distractions but the basics are there already. He has learnt sit, in, out and no whilst in foster.
Tommy has shown no possessive behaviour while in foster and is happy to share his toys and food. He is atypical staffie in his play though and will growl and grumble while playing tug but there is absolutely no aggression. He is happy to be touched all over and would love to be stroked all day if you could manage that! Travels well in the car and is calm and well behaved at the vets.
Tommy has been fine being left for short periods in his foster home and will settle down without a problem. He is very human orientated so would prefer to have someone in with him but for the right home with something in place may be suitable for fulltime workers. He can get a little bored if left so it’s wise to leave him appropriate chew toys unless you want mismatched slippers!
In summary Tommy is flexible in the type of home he is looking for and as long as he gets a good amount of exercise and someone to cwtch he would fit in most places. Another wonderful ambassador of the breed!
All Hope Rescue dogs are neutered, vaccinated, wormed, flea treated and microchipped prior to rehoming. A homecheck will be required, and you will need to come and meet the dog with your own dogs and family. Hope Rescue rehomes throughout the UK.
