Kennels, dog boarding, help please!
We had our little Nala about 7 weeks ago now, and she is part of the family, such a loving naughty little puppy. However, prior to having her we had booked 3 holidays this year, which at the time of having her we said she would simply have to go to kennels! However, since having her, I am actually dreading putting her in kennels. Friends (who previously had a staff and lost theirs Xmas time) have said they can haver her for 5 days of our hols end of May, however there is still august and Xmas time we are stuck. I've found a local place in Cardiff, who boards dogs at her home, called Shampooch Groomers/Boarding who seems to have good reviews, but just wondering whether anyone on here, from South Wales area has any advice or can advise me on somewhere good that Nala could stay? Another issue is I've read up lots of information prior to having Nala, and one thing lots of books say is that Staffs can be aggressive with other dogs, is this the case? Nala is fine around other dogs at the moment, but is only a puppy and is always on the lead? If this is the case I guess she won't be able to be boarded around other dogs.
Thanks, any advice appreciated

Re: Kennels, dog boarding, help please!
Not all staffs are dog aggressive & a lot of them will happily live & play with other dogs. The dogs will always be boarded seperately, however, (or should be!) and should be excercised seperately so aggression shouldn't be a problem.
Phone the kennels & ask if you can visit & see how the place is run/how the dogs are kept. If they won't let you, avoid them as they must have something to hide! Also ask if you can contact others who have boarded their dogs there to get a recomendation. Ask if they have experience of Staffordshier Bull Terriers.

It wouldnt bother me if I never have a holiday but my other half is the one thats wants to go. Im lucky at the moment cause my son is still living home and hes 26 so they can stay home and not have disruption.
Mine have never been in kennels so I cant really help I have had a house sitter which is a freind who stayed over at mine to care for my pets

Re: Kennels, dog boarding, help please!
When we got Dempsey we had already booked a holiday in Ireland & we couldn't take him - as good Bull Terrier pups are like gold dust we didn't want to turn him down, so we put him in kennels for a week.
However, we travelled 2 hours to get to the one we chose because it was a specialist Bull Terrier breeder who also runs a boarding kennel. They knew the breeder of our pup & knew how to treat a 4 month old bully. If we hadn't found a kennel that suited us, then I think we'd have cancelled the holiday!

It's so hard isn't it, I've been trying to look for reviews etc online to see if there's a particular one that has good reviews.

They'll all have good reviews on line! It's aften best to visit if you can & see what sort of 'feeling' you get from them.

Actually there was one local to me which charged a huge amount but mostly good reviews but going through them I found 2 really bad reviews!!! I won't be even wanting to visit that one. I am going to mention to the in-laws first to see if they would have her bless, my nan has offered, but in all fairness there is no way she could care for Nala and walk her, as lovely as she is she is trouble on legs sometimes!
