Does anyone here feed raw meat to their Staffs.

At least once a week my dogs get bones with raw meat attached or they get Liver, raw chicken, beef ribs etc.
My local butcher even sells Doggie mince. I find the raw meat great for building muscle.

What are your thoughts..

Diet has little to no affect on muscle building, but there are many people who feed a raw diet on here. It is very healthy for them.

The RAW diet is very healthy for them Smile but for muscle building, I think mostly that'll be down to exercise. Obviously a good diet is great, but the majority of it will be physical activity. I feed Loki raw fish, chicken wings, chicken quarters, etc. now and again, but not everyday.

As already said, raw meat has no real bearing on muscle formation. Good muscle comes from feeding a good, balanced diet & the right sort of exercise.

Mind you, there's nothing wrong with giving your dog some raw meat occasionally! thumbs up

Our 2 have wainwrights on a morning, and then on an evening they have raw chicken wings on 2 nights, liver on 1 night, sardines on 1 night, and the other 3 nights I'm afraid I give them Chubbs mixed with wainwrights. They absolutely love the Chubbs but I worry that I'm feeding them rubbish. Anybody else give these to their Staffies? Even the cats love the Chubbs and try to steal it from the dogs, even though the cats get Whiskas. Funny creatures all of them :-)

Chubbs isn't the best, I'm afraid. Sad

The rest sounds pretty good, though! Big Grin

On the raw food theme, our 2 will even eat leftover salad - the cheese first, lettuce and cucumber second, then they stare at the tomatoes before deciding they aren't that bad after all and down they go!!

I feed my dog raw food. Like already said muscle is mainy due to DNA and good exercise but good food will certainly do no harm. Ceasar looks great in your avatar pic Love Struck

Chiquito has raw meat everyday - loves cut up beef and also has chicken, lamb and a little bit of pork occasionally. I also give him chicken necks/wings.

Chiquito eyes those nasty tomatoes off too Laughing (He is rather partial to banana, apple and cucumber though Smile)

I started mine on RAW a little less than a month ago and they are thriving. I've transitioned slowly so they get things like chicken backs; quarters; necks; feet; hearts; liver; beef; lamb etc. Last night they had a bit of a fancy dinner of beef chunks, sheep offal and a tiny bit of pork fat. Breakfast today will be some more sheep offal to finish the packet and a meaty bone. They are thriving on it. As said above, muscle depends on genes and exercise, but RAW certainly helps with other things like shiny coats, strong joints, good teeth and less allergies!

My dogs are all on the BARF diet and are much healthier for it (not that they were ill or anything!) I just love everything about the diet even the poo!

Red meat is full of protein which is essential for muscle building.
I also do a lot of sprinting and even swimming to build up my dogs

I think this is the best combination for muscle building IMO.

Time to go the butchers..LOL

The correct diet will give the building blocks for good health, but it's exercise that builds muscle.
