My 8 week old staffy puppy -Alfie
My puppy is 8 weeks old. Blue staffy. His name is Alfie. Yesterday he was out in the garden with me all day, hes had hist first lot of jabs!, and he was eating all flowers & grass. I took them out of his month and said no. But he still kept eating them so took him inside. He was sick last night twice then he had his food & was ok. This morning let him out to have a wee and he was sick again straight after his food! Rang the vets & hes booked in later today but im so worried!! Feel like a horrible mother:-(. He laid fast asleep on me.
Any advice would be brill!!
Thank you!!!

Welcome don't feel too bad, if there's anything, wrong, the vets will find out for you. That said, can you guarantee no other animals have been in your garden (ie random cats)? If not, then best to not let him into the garden until he's allowed out a while after his second jab. Most likely he's just made himself sick though, they do eat things they're not meant to!
Do you have any pics of Alfie? We have a gallery section and we love new pics

Welcome to the forum from me and the Monster
It's very typical for puppies to eat everything they can find. Might be worth looking at separating off areas he can get to for the first few weeks as that when the behaviour will be at it's worst.

I cant 100% garantee no cats have been in. Put i did puppy proof it so no other animal could get in, but cats are a nightmare!!
Just want him to be ok. Had to take a day off work to keep an eye on him. Im on a iphone- how do i upload a picture? Would love everyone to see my blue boy:-)!!
Thanks for the advice too!

Hi and welcome to the forum from Rocky and me.
See what the vet says today, if you can maybe get him to play with something else rather than the garden plants and grass, does he have any chew toys you could let him have while he is outside.
Was he playing in the direct sunlight all day ? as this may also make him feel sick if he got too hot. Does he have a bowl of water outside to drink or within easy access ?

Re: My 8 week old staffy puppy -Alfie
Hi kathy - he was in the shade most of the day. He had plenty of water and because he was panting my boyfriend poured a little water on him to cool him down. Got plenty of toys but does not seem bothered by them. But as soon as there an empty box or plastic bottle its the best thing ever:-)
Thanks!
Thanks!

B&Q do that sort of lightweight separating trellis that comes in really handy. My last dog went blind and we used it to keep her off areas were she could get hurt. It's really handy and not very expensive from what I can remember.

Thanks matt. After the vets a trip to b&q maybe in order!!
Any tips on biting? Tried ignoring him, tried putting toys in his mouth when he bites. Tried crying, like his sister/brothers would have. Getting frustrating , plus it looks like iv been attacked with puppy scratches & teeth marks

You're doing all the right things, just keep at it and he'll get there. Don't expect quick results though, some take longer than others. Loki was a nightmare with biting, he was terrible for months, but he learnt eventually. Just make sure you're consistent with the training. Try saying no or yelping whenever he bites, and stop playing with him or giving him affection, just completely ignore him.If he continues, put him in another room (a safe one) for a few minutes.

The best way is to have an safe place in the house, bathroom/bedroom that you can close him in for a minute or so for a time out.
He'll cry and won't like it, but if he does the behaviour again put him straight back in.
I'll not lie, it takes absolutely loads of repetition but it is the best way IMO and once he's learnt you'll never have to worry about it again.

Re: My 8 week old staffy puppy -Alfie
Hi and welcome from Chiquito and I Alfie looks absolutely gorgeous in your avatar ... can't wait to see more pics!!
Hope all goes well for you at the vet .. Chiquito is a terror for eating things that he shouldn't and I can well understand the worry that an upset tummy causes!
In regards to the biting, as said above, just keep up with all that you are doing and the biting will lessen over time. As you said in your last post, he will get there
Great to hear that your training is going well!
