Re: staffy sink
Jeez, that would have been nerve wrecking Daniel. My last wee Patterdale fell into a fast river and was swept away, I jumped in just as you did to get her.
Very dangerous though tbh.
Glad Max is ok though fella

Re: staffy sink
Moo will only swim for a stick but as you mentioned it has to be a short distance, its the river/canal for us so not far to go. I have experienced them struggling to ><

Re: staffy sink
How frightening Daniel, and you did what most of us would have done in rescuing your dog - well done. I hope that you and Max have recovered tonight (although your clothes may take longer, and your phone - umm, probably a write-off! )
I've not heard before that Staffies are not good swimmers - is that true? I thought all dogs could swim.

Glad that Max is okay Must have been a scarey experience for you and your wife though.
I have also heard that staffs are poor swimmers but I am not sure if this is true - Chiquito has never been in more than a paddle pool! I imagine that some dogs regardless of breed would be better swimmers than others (??), however I am sure that someone with more experience than me will shed some light on the staffs swimming ability soon

That must have been very scary! glad Max is OK though, and great that he's not scared to go back in the water.

Re: staffy sink
Glad you're both OK now Daniel. There was a poll on this forum in the winter about whether we would go into the water to rescue our dog and I'm even more sure now that I would now I know Staffs can't hardly swim (the short legs thing makes sense).
