Demodex advice please
My 9 month old staff bitch was finally diagnosed with demodex mites 2 weeks ago, as she has steadily become balder over the past month. She was started on the aludex bathes last week as it was too far gone for just the advocate drops. She has now had 2 baths, and, although her skin looks less irritated, she is progressively going balder, does anyone have experience with the treatment? Do the dogs look worse before they get better, or are the dips just not working? She is not due for another skin scrape until after the 3rd bath.

Re: Demodex advice please
hey there. my puppy Demi had demodex when i adopted here from the vet clinic she was abandond at with NO fur wat so ever. she was bald. weighing at 14kg. i took here in and once a day i had to give here a liquid medicen called 'ivomec' to the amount prescribed by the vet as it is calculated by the weight of the dog.
within weeks of demi being on ivomec we were seeing results. she came off it a few weeks back after her final skin scrap as they found no live bugs on the parts were there was less fur on her body. so now she has a full coat back and is healthier then ever.
i live in australia so ifyou live elswhere they may not sell this product there but it work for my baby

The fur should eventually grow back properly. It just takes a little time.
Don't forget that the fur loos you're seeing now is the result of what the mites did to it before, so it will get better soon!

I've never used the baths, but I know that it's pretty powerful stuff! I think if you can use something that's less harsh, then that's all to the best.
Your gf's gonna be useful if she's a vet's nurse - we might be putting some questions your way!

update
Hi, just to let you know, my Cleo has just had skin scrapes after 3 baths, and the mites are still there, but a lot less of them visable, so on with the bathes. I asked about the ivomex, but it is not readily available here apparently, and, as she seems to be reponding to the baths, I'll carry on for the moment.
