demodex
had Diesel at vets today ,they done a skin scrape and found demodex mites. they have started him on a daily dose of panomec , antibiotics for any infection and shampoo called microbex 2 a week , . has anyone had this treatment before and should it clear it , he is 7mths old and got to admit panicking a bit , the look he gave me when i bathed him was so pitiful as he hates water

Re: demodex
Sorry to hear this Di, poor Diesel. I'm sure there'll be members along soon who have had experience of this and can advise you at first hand. Get well soon Diesel

Re: demodex
Caught early, Demodex is quite easy to treat (although your dog won't like it!) and can start to clear up very quickly. It does, however, sometimes look a little worse before it starts to look better.

Re: demodex
I've not had that treatment, Daisy had the Aludex dips and ivermectin orally. Just make sure you give him all the treatments the vets have instructed and sure he'll be fine x

Re: demodex
well it day two of Diesel,s treatment and boy is he enjoying the attendition,. spotted another small thining patch, but i assume this is the the treatment starting to kick in, and diesel is my friend again ,till tomorrow night when he bathed in the shampoo again lol , and he also seems a lot perky , as i understand the mite lives in the skin so any patch that has it ,i expect the hair to fall out ? boy this is as bad as when my 2 kids were ill ,except Diesel isnt puking in his sleep and just turns over like they did

Re: demodex
Don't be worried if he start to loose more fur. Any hair that had a mite in the follicle will fall out so he may look worse before he looks better x
